BMW E30 M3 Convertible
1991
-
Like the two-door sedan, the BMW M3 E30 Convertible is derived from motorsport, combining high performance and open-top decadence in away that had never been seen before. After all, the M3 E30 was the only DTM homologation model that was also available in a convertible version.
This first BMW 3 Series M in convertible bodywork was made in three versions. In 1988 and 1989, BMW used the standard 2,3-liter S14 engine in either non-catalyst (200 hp; 136 units produced) or catalyst form (195 hp;174 units produced). A second batch of catalyst-equipped cars has been assembled in 476 units from March 1990 until June 1991. These were powered by the 215-hp version of the S14 engine.
Because of it slow production volume, the E30 M3 convertible was assembled by hand at BMW M's Garching facility.
